At Baby Scan and Beyond, we offer NIPT screening and early gender blood tests for parents who want extra reassurance during the early stages of pregnancy.
NIPT, is also known as non-invasive prenatal testing. It’s a blood test that screens for certain chromosomal conditions. This includes Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome and Patau’s syndrome. The test will analyse small fragments of your baby’s DNA found in your blood; it’s a safe screening option with no risk to your pregnancy.
We also offer early gender blood testing for those who would like to find out their baby’s sex before it can usually be seen clearly on an ultrasound scan. This test provides an early indication of whether you are having a boy or a girl.
Both tests are carried out at our clinic in Wigan using a quick blood sample. Our team will explain the process clearly, we’ll answer your questions and we will make sure you feel comfortable throughout your appointment.

Baby Scan and Beyond is easy to reach from Liverpool, Merseyside and the Wirral. Wigan town centre offers convenient access by both train and by car. Trains run direct from Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan, with the fastest journeys taking around 28 minutes and services are frequent throughout the day. By car, Wigan is around 20 miles from Liverpool and usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. If you’re travelling from the Wirral you can reach Wigan by car or by train via your local train station, to Central Station or Liverpool Lime Street.
